Therapeutic Uses of Cannabis/Medical Marijuana

Chronic or severe pain that degrades health and functional capability and might otherwise be treated with opioids. A research study found that the use of cannabis is more likely to result in a significant reduction in pain.

Severe or persistent muscle spasms: Studies have shown that formulations of cannabis with THC and CBD were associated with improved spasticity and greater improvements in symptoms were reported by participants who received co-formulated THC and CBD (compared with those who received THC alone).

Post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD

People with PTSD have intense, disturbing thoughts and feelings related to a traumatic experience (such as natural disasters, serious accidents, terrorist acts, war/combat, rape/sexual assault, historical trauma, intimate partner violence and bullying) that last long after the traumatic event has ended. They may experience flashbacks, nightmares; feelings of sadness, fear, or anger; and they may feel detached or withdrawn from other people. People with PTSD may avoid situations or people that remind them of the trauma, and they may have strong negative reactions to something as ordinary as a loud noise or an accidental touch.

Studies have shown that medical cannabis can help reduce the symptoms of PTSD.
